Want to try something fun, creative, and easy? How about a class that features Steampunk art? An art movement that started in the 1980’s, Steampunk is creative, clever, and knows no boundaries. In our one day workshop, we'll explore the wild and wonderful world of Steampunk.
If you were at Rug Hooking Week last summer, then you saw the Steampunk exhibit and know how creative and fun Steampunk can be. If you are ready to unleash some creativity, then this workshop is for you!
Donna has six patterns to choose from, all measuring 10" by 15", so you'll be able to get a good start on hooking your design in class. She'll also have a selection of wool "geared" to the metal color range, and bags of wonderful trinkets for embellishing. She'll talk about Steampunk history and offer tips and techniques for hooking, embellishing and finishing these pieces, but the main goal is to open up your mind and play!
This class is open to most skill levels, providing you can hook comfortably in smaller cuts like # 3, 4, and 5. The designs are clear and detailed, and you'll be able to choose your colors and gadgetry to make them all your own.
Teacher will contact students prior to class: Yes.
Level: Basic – students must have basic rug hooking knowledge & experience.
Supply/Kit description: Choice of 10” x 15” pattern on linen. Custom wool and trinkets available for purchase in class.
Students Need to Bring: Basic hooking supplies: a frame, scissors, cutter, cutter blades # 3-5, & hook. Optional: If you have interesting pieces of jewelry or trinkets to add to your finished piece, bring them along!
