With a forecast of sunshine and nearly 60 degree temperatures this weekend, guests may have “Spring Fever” during the “Frozen in Time” event at Sauder Village! Even without snow, this brand new event will take place on Saturday, February 18 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Historic Village with a combination of historic and modern day activities with a winter theme.
“While we were hoping for snow and a frozen lake, we’re still excited about all we have planned for our new Frozen in Time event this weekend,” shared Kim Krieger, PR/Media Relations. “If you’re looking for a fun afternoon, plan to stop by Saturday to meet our farm animals, explore a straw maze, play with old-fashioned toys in the Grime Home, meet Elsa from the movie Frozen and so much more!”
Activities planned for this Saturday include:
- Trolley Ride throughout the Historic Village
- Nature Scavenger Hunt & Pinecone bird feeders for kids to make
- Snowman craft in the Stuckey Home
- Meet our new horse Rebekah and some of her other barnyard friends!
- Explore the straw maze in the Stuckey Barn
- In the 1920 Grime Homestead enjoy popcorn and play parlor games like Tiddlywinks, Go Fish, Minute Maid and Checkers. There will also be old-time toys to play with like paper dolls, Lincoln Logs and a Spirograph.
- Ice Castle building and “erupting snow” activity on the Village Green
- Elsa from the movie Frozen will be in the District 16 School throughout the afternoon. There will be an activity for children in the school, special music and an opportunity for everyone to have their picture taken with Elsa!
- Learn about Ice Harvesting – Stop by the Museum Building to see historic ice harvesting equipment, interactive ice harvesting activity and video.
- Museum Building – Spend time exploring the new exhibits that opened last season!
- Try hands-on weaving activities in the Welcome Center
- Watch the new blacksmith at work in the Blacksmith Shop.
The Sauder Village Gift Shop and Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop will be open as well as the Barn Restaurant and Doughbox Bakery. For anyone interested in a long weekend getaway for President’s Day Weekend, a special Frozen in Time Package is even available at the Sauder Heritage Inn!
Admission to the Frozen in Time Festival is $13 for adults ($11 for member adults), $7.00 for students ($6.00 for member students) and children 3 and under are free. To receive $1.00 off admission guests are encouraged to register and purchase admission tickets online at www.saudervillage.org
