Non-profit Sauder Village has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday event will take place on Tuesday, December 3and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.
“Sauder Village is pleased to be part of the #GivingTuesday movement again this year,” shared Andy Brodbeck, Director of Development at Sauder Village. “As a 501c3 non-profit organization, gifts of time, talent and finances to Sauder Village positively impact people of all ages, including the thousands of school children we serve each year. Donations also help us to provide a special place where families can slow down, spend quality time together, and enjoy fun with a purpose.”
Many non-profits in Northwest Ohio are participating in the local #GivingTuesdayNWO movement. As part of this local event, Sauder Village is registered for a chance to be selected to receive an unrestricted grant through the Toledo Community Foundation based on our participation and donations received on #GivingTuesday.
Donations to the Sauder Village Experience Fund and special projects like the 1920s Main Street help preserve our rich heritage that would otherwise be lost forever. Please consider making a gift to Sauder Village on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at www.saudervillage.org or by mailing a check to: Sauder Village, PO Box 235, Archbold, OH 43502.
On #GivingTuesday, Sauder Village guests can also round up a purchase or make a donation while visiting the Barn Restaurant, Doughbox Bakery and Sauder Village Retail Shops. People can also stop by the Welcome Center and sign-up to be a volunteer – a great way to share your time and talents at Sauder Village. Volunteer information and applications are also available online. Finally, people are encouraged to share the #GivingTuesday message on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to encourage others to get involved.
Founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y – a community and cultural center in New York City − #GivingTuesday has inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in. Over $300 million was raised online to benefit a tremendously broad range of organizations, and much more was given in volunteer hours, donations of food and clothing, and acts of kindness.
“We are incredibly inspired by the way the #GivingTuesday community has embraced this concept for a worldwide movement,” said Henry Timms, founder of #GivingTuesday and Executive Director of 92Y. “As we prepare for November 27, we’re energized and encouraged by the community’s generosity. The levels of creativity, effort and the quality of the new ideas people have contributed and shared are phenomenal.”
