The Broken Barrel Speakeasy is unleashing some secret speakeasy mayhem with an immersive experience and taste of the underworld of Prohibition! Prepare to be introduced to the history, the gangs & the consequences of Prohibition at our spectacular 1920s Main Street venue.

What’s Included?

Be one of 12 guests on an intimate journey back in time to the roaring 20s and experience The Broken Barrel Speakeasy, an authentic secret hidden room here at Sauder Village on the 1920s Main Street. Guests will learn the difference between whiskey and bourbon, how bourbon was invented, and by whom. Whiskey — the name derived from the Irish Gaelic phrase for “water of life” — is among the most popular alcoholic beverages worldwide.

The history of Prohibition and its consequential impact on Northwest Ohio and the rest of our country from 1920-1933 will be shared while guests imbibe on a Prohibition cocktail and savor the different taste profiles of 4 Prohibition bourbons. These bourbons are from one of the 6 original distilleries that held governmental permits to produce such spirits for medicinal purposes during Prohibition.
