Ever thought of learning to spin wool into yarn? Simple and elegant spindles are an accessible and portable way to give spinning a try! In this class we will use suspended (or drop) spindles to twist wool fibers into yarn. Students will learn the art
of drafting, the importance of twist and how to ply and finish their yarn so that it can be used for knitting, crocheting, or weaving. Each student will receive a top whorl spindle and roving to get you started in this hands-on class.

Instructor: Sue Spieldenner
Sue is a fiber arts enthusiast! She loves wool and everything about it; the sheep, holding freshly shorn wool (still warm) in her hands, washing, carding, dying and spinning with anything that will add the twist needed to create yarn (a wheel, a stick,
or a suspended or supported spindle). She became fascinated with spinning in her mid-twenties after watching a demonstration at a county fair. Like fiber artists everywhere, those generous spinners were only too happy to pass their skills along. Over
the years, Sue has used her hand spun wool to knit and weave but since 2020 has developed a passion rug hooking. Most of her rugs include wool yarn that she has hand spun and dyed. Her work will take your breath away and give you another reason to
learn to spin.
