Making a Butter Churn

Monday, June 16 & Tuesday, June 17

9:00 am – 5:00 pm each day

Learn a truly unique and historic skill in this 2-day class. Coopering is the craft of joining wooden staves to create a container. Each student will complete a wooden butter churn from cedar using hand tools and techniques coopers have used for centuries.

From shaping the staves, bottom, and lid to assembling and banding the churn, this hands-on class offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to step into the past and connect with history. The class is being held in the Cooperage building at Sauder Village with a limited class size to ensure one-on-one instruction from our experienced Cooperage staff.
