Warm, welcoming, relaxing is the vibe you will experience at the annual Fall Rug Hook-In held at Sauder Heritage Inn.

The spacious retreat room, set with round tables, allows for room to spread your project, and join with friends while you hook. Many participants take advantage of the comfy lounge style lobby with fireplace or other intimate seating areas at the Inn for a warm and welcoming place to unwind and create! Bring a friend or come solo and make new friends! All skill levels are welcome.

Our retreats are held at the gorgeous Sauder Heritage Inn, providing a country lodge feel with natural wood timbers, atrium, hand forged lighting & railings, and unique artwork throughout the building. Additional amenities include an indoor pool with waterfall, hot tub, game room, and exercise room. Snacks, beer, and wine are available for purchase at the Front Desk too!

No matter what stage you are in with a rug hooking project, this retreat is a great time to catch up on projects, share ideas with other rug hooking enthusiasts, and show off your work during Show and Tell. While there is no formal instruction or teachers at this self-guided retreat, other attendees are always willing to help with a project.

Retreat Registration

2 or 3 full days of rug hooking

Purge & Splurge Wool Exchange – Saturday 9 am – 12 noon

Access to the Wetlands Nature Trail walking path

Additional Options:

Purge & Splurge Wool Exchange – reserve a half table to purge your stash (individuals only, no businesses). Additional fee required, $5.
Thursday Night Hook-In – start your retreat early. Arrive after 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, Additional fee required, $20.

3-Day Retreat

Friday, October 13 – Sunday, October 15, 2023

Starts 8 am Friday – ends 4pm Sunday

$160/ $150 for member, includes retreat fee, all meals, Doughbox cookie break, and one-day pass to the Historic Village with free popcorn.

2-Day Retreat

Friday, October 13 – Saturday, October 14, 2023

Starts 8 am Friday – ends 4pm Saturday

$120/ $110 for member, includes retreat fee, all meals (2 lunches, 2 dinners), Doughbox cookie break, and one-day pass to the Historic Village with free popcorn.

LODGING:A special block of rooms and campsites are available for registered participants at the Heritage Inn and Campground. You will receive a confirmation letter with instructions including a Booking ID# required for making a reservation. All lodging reservations are available on a first come first served basis.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Cancellations prior to September 12, 2023, will receive a full refund minus a 10% processing fee. After this date, no refunds will be issued. If the retreat does not meet the minimum number of participants by noon on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, we may be forced to cancel the retreat and all fees will be refunded.

Event Overview & Information

The Sauder Village Fall 2023 Rug Hook-In Retreat is a great time to bring your friends and enjoy two or three days in the beautiful and spacious Sauder Heritage Inn. The retreat offers the opportunity to work on projects, try your hand at new techniques and dine at the delicious Barn Restaurant with other rug hooking enthusiasts. Stop in the Doughbox Bakery for a specialty drink or a sweet treat to keep those creative juices flowing.
