What to expect...
Rug Hooking enthusiasts like yourself, will gather in the spacious and well-lit Homestead meeting room at the Sauder Heritage Inn, where you can spread out your work, have fun catching up with friends, be encouraged, delighted, and productive.
Meals
Healthy, refreshing lunches are served in your retreat room and included in your retreat fee, along with dinner on Friday night. Saturday dinner is on your own. Archbold hosts several locally owned restaurants offering a variety of options from a 1950’s diner to Mexican, Central & South American, Italian, pizza or several fast-food options.
Options
Choose either a 2 or 3-day retreat package with an optional early hook-in on Thursday evening for a minimal additional fee.
What’s included?
Your retreat fee includes all lunches and one dinner, snacks, artisan made daily door prizes, and a gift certificate redeemable with our Pop-Up Vendors.
What to bring?
Be sure to bring all supplies needed to hook including a cutter, wool, tools, pattern, frame, etc.
Lodging
A block of rooms is reserved offering a special discounted rate for retreat attendees. A Group Reservation ID# is required at the time of reservation. The ID# will be listed in your registration confirmation email. Once you receive your confirmation, call the Heritage Inn at 800-590-9755 to reserve your room. The Inn offers an expanded continental breakfast each morning for registered guests.
Pop-Up Vendors
We have selected two rug hooking vendors, Because of Ewe and Cindi Gay Rug Hooking to showcase their items on Saturday morning for your shopping enjoyment. Each registered guest receives one, $5 gift certificate to use with either vendor during the hook-in.
Because of Ewe owner Kim Hirt, hand dyes wools using varying techniques. Her color palette leans towards bright, vivid colors and hues. You’ll fall in love with her luxurious wools. Kim also hosts a Wednesday Virtual Hook-In, blogs, and teaches at various guilds. Kim is currently working toward her McGown Teacher Certification. Cindi Gay, owner of Cindi Gay Rug Hooking, offers online and in-person classes (she has taught during Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village), hosts a podcast, blogs, hand dyes wool, and finds time to hook. Cindi will be selling from her collection of richly textured wools in classic shades perfect for any project. Don’t miss her vendor table. Hook-In Options
2-Day Retreat (Friday & Saturday, February 2 & 3).Includes your retreat fee, 3 meals, snacks, artisan made door prizes and a vendor gift certificate. Retreat opens at 8 a.m. on Friday and ends at 4 p.m. on Saturday. $120/$110 Sauder Village Member
3-Day Retreat (Friday – Sunday, February 2-4). Includes your retreat fee, 5 meals, snacks, artisan made door prizes and a vendor gift certificate. Retreat opens at 8 a.m. on Friday and ends at 4 p.m. on Sunday. $160/$150 Sauder Village Member
Optional Thursday Night Hook-In - Includes early access to the retreat room starting at 4 p.m. Additional $20 fee.
Space is limited to 64 people.
Cancellation Policy
If for any reason you are not able to attend, please notify Deb Ridgway via email or phone at your earliest convenience. Cancellations prior to January 12, 2024, will receive a full refund less a 10% processing fee. After this date, no refunds will be issued. If for any reason the retreat does not meet the minimum number of participants by noon on January 16, we may be forced to cancel the retreat and all fees will be refunded.
