Joan Sheridan curates a collection of antique and vintage textiles on exhibit at the Fiber Arts Fest:
Antique and Vintage Textiles
Textiles have been clothing us, keeping our food, covering our table and windows, and cleaning us and our surroundings for millennia. From towels to purses to feed bags and lace, at this year’s Fiber Arts Festival you will be able to view textiles from the last 200 years. The earliest object is a “show towel” from Pennsylvania. Other items include lace baby bonnets, sugar sack aprons and several different kinds of rugs. Presented by Joan Sheridan, a collector since the 1970s and textile specialist volunteer at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan, you will see the world of textiles through her eyes. Joan has worked with textiles her entire life, but claims weaving as her passion, which is reflected in this collection.
