Quilt Appraisals

Professional Quilt Appraisals given by Donna L. Kooistra

Due to unforeseen circumstance, our certified appraiser, Donna L. Kooistra will not be able to attend our show. Sauder Village staff will be in touch with everyone who pre-registered for an appraisal. We are very sorry for this inconvenience.

Donna KooistraDonna L Kooistra, AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser and Former President of the Professional Association of Appraisers of Quilted Textiles will be available to appraise newly constructed quilts, antique, traditional, and non-traditional quilts for insurance replacement value, fair market value, and donation value. For many years, Donna has participated in classes and lectures on fabric dating and identification, technique, construction, documentation, ethics, and current trends to determine values of quilted textiles offered by national quilt organizations as well as those by local shops and appraisers.

Quilt appraisals will be done at the Sauder Village Quilt Show in Founder’s Hall by appointment or by walk-in on Thursday, May 6, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday, May 7, from 12:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and by appointment only on Saturday, May 8. Advance appraisal registration is preferred. Once we receive your quilt appraisal registration, you will be contacted to set up an appointment time. Appointments are in 30 minute increments and will be filled in order of receipt of registration. Walk-ins will be seen as soon as possible. The appraisal fee is $60.00 per quilt. (If for any reason you cannot attend your appointment, your fee will be refunded less a 10% processing fee.) You must pay the Discounted Opening Week Special for the 2021 Quilt Show's admission cost - $15.00 for adults/ $10.00 for students (for both the Quilt Show and the Historic Sauder Village admission) to enter the show and you will be directed to the Quilt Appraisal area.
