Friendship Rose is a wool applique on cotton mini quilt. You will choose either a light or dark background. In this class you will have the opportunity to learn tips and techniques from Lisa Bongean, national expert in wool hand applique. Lisa will also demonstrate the use of Half Square Triangle (HST) paper to piece the perfect tiny blocks that border the center medallion.

This beautiful design may be finished as a wall hanging or pillow.

Finished size: 18” x 18”

Skill level: Advanced beginner

What you will learn: Small piecing using Half Square Triangle (HST) paper, wool hand applique techniques.

  • Heat N Bond Featherlite for applique
  • Steam-A-Seam 2 Lite for stems and vines
  • Chenille Needles - #24 and #22
  • Cutting mat, rotary cutter, rulers, basic sewing supplies, sewing machine
  • Aurifil  thread, #50 wt. to match project
  • Creative Grid Itty Bitty ruler, size 3” x 7”
  • Stem cutting rulers (Optional)
  • Travel pillow for hand stitching (Optional)

 

Workshop Cancellation Policy: Cancellation Deadline, Friday, April 8, 2022.

Student workshop registrations are NOT TRANSFERRABLE. All cancellations must be administered by Sauder Village. Cancellations prior to April 8, 2022 will receive a refund of fees paid minus a 10% administrative fee. No refunds are given after April 8, 2022.  Cancelling students are responsible for any/all project costs they incur with their instructor. If classes do not meet a minimum number of students by April 22, 2022, Sauder Village may be forced to cancel the class and all class fees will be refunded.

Admission Passes:  Students in Lisa Bongean’s Wednesday and Thursday workshops will receive one complimentary one-day pass to visit the Quilt Show and Historic Sauder Village for each full day class. This admission pass is NOT TRANSFERABLE and may be used on any day of the Quilt Show simply by giving their name at the Founder’s Hall Admission Desk.
