Donna L Kooistra, AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser and member of the Professional Association of Appraisers of Quilted Textiles will be available to appraise newly constructed quilts, antique, traditional, and non-traditional quilts for insurance replacement value, fair market value, and donation value. For many years, Donna has participated in classes and lectures on fabric dating and identification, technique, construction, documentation, ethics, and current trends to determine values of quilted textiles offered by national quilt organizations as well as those by local shops and appraisers.
Quilt appraisals will be done at the Sauder Village Quilt Show in Founder’s Hall by appointment or by walk-in on Thursday, May 4, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday, May 5, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Advance appraisal registration is preferred. Once we receive your quilt appraisal registration, you will be contacted to set up an appointment time. Appointments are in 30 minute increments and will be filled in order of receipt of registration. Walk-ins will be seen as soon as possible. The appraisal fee is $50.00 per quilt. (If for any reason you cannot attend your appointment, your fee will be refunded less a 10% processing fee.) You must pay the Quilt Show admission cost of $11.00 (or $17 for both the Quilt Show and the Historic Sauder Village admission) to enter the show and you will be directed to the Quilt Appraisal area.
If you have a quilt hanging in the show, you have the opportunity to have your quilt appraised by indicating it on your Quilt Registration Form along with payment. Quilts will be appraised while the quilt is hanging in the show. When you register your quilt(s) for the show, you will receive a confirmation letter with an Appraisal Form to fill out and bring when you deliver your quilt(s) to Founder's Hall on Sunday, April 30, between 1:30 – 4:00 p.m.
