Volunteer Opportunities

2023 Quilt Show Volunteers

Quilt Check-In  Sunday, April 30    1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
All volunteers report to Founder’s Hall at 12:30 p.m.

Check-in Teams (10 people total required – THIS TEAM IS FILLED)
Check to make sure quilts are pre-registered, find the appropriate exhibit tag, check the quilt to make sure which category to enter it in and staple the top half of correct category claim ticket to the owner’s tag on the quilt. Give bottom half of claim ticket, ONE quilt fair pass per exhibitor and reminder notes to each exhibitor. There will be four teams of two people each to check in quilts.

 

HANGING QUILTS   Monday, May 1    8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

All volunteers report 15 minutes prior to the start of their shift.

Hanging Teams (22 people total required – 2 PEOPLE NEEDED)
Work with a team of volunteers to unfold, match and hang full-size quilts. Two people will use a scaffolding to clip the quilts to either a wire or bar for full-length display. Two volunteers will work in tandem to lift the quilts up to the scaffolding volunteers. Two additional volunteers will unfold and review hang tags to ensure quilt is in the correct category and ready to be hung.

Two teams of six people are required to hang the medium and large size quilt categories.
One team of six people are required to hang the small quilt categories. (THIS TEAM IS FILLED)

 

TAKE DOWN QUILTS   Saturday, May 6    5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

All volunteers report 15 minutes prior to the start of their shift.

Take Down Teams (26 people total required – 5 PEOPLE NEEDED)

4:50    Everyone arrives at Founder’s Hall and meets on the right wing of the stage for instructions. At the closing announcement set up at least 30 tables in the aisles to put quilts on.  Quilt category signs should be placed in the wooden holders on tables according to the category map or pinned to the panels if the table is near the outside walls.

5:00     Using scaffolding and ladders, take down quilts, fold and stack on correct category tables with the claim ticket showing. The paper color on the claim ticket should match the color of the category sign. One person on top of each scaffolding and 2 volunteers to help move each scaffolding and remove supporting poles as we go so they do not fall and become a safety issue. 

Quilt Check-Out Tables (10 people total required – 2 PEOPLE NEEDED)

6:00     Work in pairs at designated check-out tables. Collect claim tickets, match name and ticket number to master registration list. Remove pins. Thank them for entering our Quilt Show.
