Here are just some of this year’s Group Exhibits:

The Barn Raising Project

Simcoe County Museum of Ontario, Canada is pleased to present The Barn Raising Project. This travelling exhibit offered in collaboration with the Huronia Branch of the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild commemorates our rural roots. Featuring barns, this colorful display of fiber art wall hangings is handcrafted using traditional rug hooking techniques.

As a Door Closes, a Window Opens

A number of contemporary rug hooking artists from the United States and abroad were invited to interpret the quote “As a Door Closes, a Window Opens”. Over the course of six months the artists were asked to stretch themselves whether in technique, color or design, and combine elements into their piece. The only limit being their imagination!

Each participant was selected because of their individual creativity whether it be in rug hooking, needle work, or punch. The criteria for this project was to create an original design, use as many techniques as they wished, and the piece should be no larger than 24" x 18" and no smaller   than 9" x 10". The results of this creative challenge make their debut at Sauder Village.
