R is for Rug Hooking
In celebration of Rug Hooking Week’s 20th anniversary in 2016, a free pattern was offered to our attendees, and it is now our 2017 Theme Challenge.
This pattern is reminiscent of a Pennsylvania Fraktur, but with a modern twist. Each motif had a special meaning in the celebration of our 20th anniversary:
- Sunflower – The happy faces of our loyal artists and students.
- Birds – The artistic freedom expressed each year.
- Bee Skep – A place for friends and artists to meet and network.
If you did not receive a free paper pattern, follow this link Rug Hooking Challenge Handout and print one out.
Guidelines: Please increase the pattern to the size of your choice. This year’s Theme Challenge rugs will be photographed and featured in an upcoming article.
Annual “Theme Challenge”
Each year a special theme is selected for our “Theme Challenge” Exhibit. Everyone is invited to participate in this challenge. This challenge is open to patterns of your choosing or original designs to go along with our theme, it is not required that you hook one specific pattern or design.
