LEVEL: Intermediate – students must have basic rug hooking knowledge and experience. This retreat will focus on the techniques and topics listed by the instructor, students are not required to have knowledge or experience in those specific areas.
STUDENTS NEED TO BRING: Basic hooking supplies: a frame, scissors, cutter, cutter blades for your desired work sizes, and a hook.
BIO:
Capri Boyle Jones enjoys the diversity and possibilities of rug hooking. Encouraging each student to develop vision for the desired end result while enjoying the process. She is experienced in and teaches a wide variety of styles in open classes and focused studies. She has been developing her art in fiber through hooking, designing and dyeing since 1991. Her personal style is painterly, often impressionistic focusing on the use of light and color utilizing all size cuts.
Owner of Capri Boyle Rug Studio, Inc., a McGown accredited teacher, member of ATHA and National Guild of Pearl K. McGowan Hookcrafters. Capri has taught workshops at Maryland Shores Rug Hooking School, Niagara On-the-Lake, Off the Ocean, Hooking and Looking, Asilomar, Chautauqua and Manistee among others. In addition, she teaches for guilds and in her home studio. You may find her artwork in Celebration of Hand-Hooked Rugs, books by Jessie Turbayne, at Quayside Art Gallery in Pensacola, The Cultural Arts Alliance, various exhibits and art shows throughout the US and private collections.
