DESCRIPTION:
The word “sampler” evokes the image of gentle work. It’s a kind of needlework diary, an example of knowledge and developing skill and a reference tool for future stitching.
A needlework sampler often includes the alphabet, numerals, images, motifs, stitches, decorative borders, a date, and the name or initials of its maker.
If you can imagine some of these same elements plus some new ideas for hooking images in an interesting hooked rug design, this is your retreat.
Choose one of our three 18” x 30” sampler designs ($65 pattern) or create your own (with the teacher’s hints prior to class) and prepare to learn some fool-proof techniques for hooking letters, numbers, and words.
We will cover basic techniques—plain, precise, and extraordinary—along with some interesting adaptations of the typical techniques used for hooking letters.
