Dear Artists & Rug Hooking Enthusiasts,

Andrew Wyeth once said…”I search for the realness, the real feeling of a subject, all the texture around it... I always want to see the third dimension of something... I want to come alive with the object.” --- that brings us to our Feature Exhibit for 2019 --- Hooked on Dimension – Fashion, Furniture & Sculpture! For this exhibit, we have invited some wonderful artists to exhibit collections of their dimensional work. You will be amazed at their use of design, color and ability to construct work in many shapes and sizes.

We are also inviting individuals, like yourself, to submit a single piece of 3-dimensional FASHION, FURNITURE or SCULPTURE for this year’s Special Exhibit – Dimension – From Our Hands. The third element of our dimensional focus is to use hooking or a combination of techniques from our Mixed Media category in our Invitational Challenge & Special Exhibit – Fascinators & Hats. You will find more information & instructions on our Special Exhibit page and Facebook page. Participants of these Special Exhibits are eligible for People’s Choice Awards & Ribbons.

Besides the dimensional exhibits & classes, we think you will also enjoy the many diverse and creative 1 dimensional exhibits & classes too --- many of classes were requested by you through our surveys & comment cards. Besides rug hooking, classes are also offered in techniques in rug punch, needle punch, needle felting & mixed media projects. With over 30 classes and teachers to choose from, you can learn a new technique, study with a teacher on your wish list, stretch yourself, be creative, or just have fun!

Our Virtual Exhibit was so popular in 2018, we are adding another in 2019. This is a wonderful opportunity to see international work, without the challenges and expenses of shipping collections to the U.S. Through technology and the World Wide Web, you can view these outstanding collections of international artists right here at Rug Hooking Week.

Shopping is a very important part of Rug Hooking Week, this year’s new and returning Vendors will debut new merchandise, bring your favorite supplies & equipment, help you with your projects, and surprise you with the unexpected!

Whether you come for a day or the entire week, networking is another important part of Rug Hooking Week with attendees & exhibitors coming from more than 40 states and several countries. If we can help your group or guild organize your trip to Rug Hooking Week by bus or car caravan or plan a meeting or dinner while your here, please let us help with your plans and answer any questions you may have.

To receive all our announcements and updates throughout the year, sign up for both the Rug Hooking Week mailing list and like our Facebook page Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village.

Be amazed, be inspired, be at Sauder Village in August!
