Diamond-birds-hooked-rug-wall-artDescription:  Come and learn about sculpting elements and how they can add interest and dimension to your hooked rugs. Tatiana will share her story about her bird rug Four Seasons, which was featured in Celebration 28 magazine and the 2018 Celebration Exhibit.

Tatiana will demonstrate sculpting techniques, then you will practice those techniques while creating one of several sculpting designs either on a nice light green Verel or on linen. If you select Verel, the background does not need to be hooked. You will be working in cuts: #3 for the motif and #4-6 for background, and you may choose your color scheme.

You will also learn how to apply elements of proddy techniques, if you would like to enrich your design. You can make the finished project into a wall hanging and practical tips will be discussed for putting the design into a photo frame or making it into a purse.

Tatiana will share ideas and inspiration for adding sculpting to not only this project but to your future projects - in ways you might not have thought of!

Tulip-hooked-rug-pillowBio:

Tatiana is an Ontario Hooking Craft Guild certified rug hooking teacher since 2016 and has been hooking since 2008. She has hooked more than a hundred rugs and four of her pieces were featured in Celebrations.

Making rugs is more than a hobby for Tatiana. She finds it’s a means of self-expression. Every new rug invites the use of different artistic elements and she is happy to share her experience with others.

Tatiana’s ponchos were featured in her September/October 2018 article in Rug Hooking Magazine and her sculpted piece - Four Seasons was exhibited in the Celebration 28 exhibit last year at Rug Hooking Week.
