Squirrel-fall-hooked-rug-Elinor-BarrettClass Description:  Enjoy a day of planning and creating a seasonal wall hanging by combining rug hooking and wool applique/embroidery techniques to add dimension and interest to the design. With special permission from Bonnie Sullivan for use in this class, students will have their choice of four seasonal designs from “All Through the Night”: By A Hare (Spring), Build A Nest (Summer), Squirrel It Away (Autumn), and Cardinal Rule (Winter).

The 34” x 34” designs will be on linen and hooked in cuts #5-9. Students will select their pattern prior to the class and Elinor will provide suggestions on wool selection and color if students wish to bring wool and embroidery floss with them to the class.

squirrel-pumpkin-fall-Half-2020During the class, Elinor will guide students in deciding which areas they wish to hook and which design elements will be appliqued and/or embroidered. One-on-one instruction and assistance with color planning, applique and embroidery techniques and finishing the wall hanging will be provided. Elinor will have materials such as wool, embroidery floss, silk velvet and ribbon available for purchase that students may incorporate in their design.

The class will focus on planning and creating a wall hanging by evaluating the pattern design to determine where and how to use applique, embroidery and rug hooking to achieve a unique finished project and also inspire you to use these techniques in your future projects.
