Shepherd-R1DESCRIPTION:

Step into Gene’s world of creativity, fun and education. Students will spend 3 days working with Gene on any hooking or proddy pattern they like.

Hooking --- Gene is a master at teaching students how to enhance and improve their hooking skills, techniques, style, and use of color. Using a pattern of your choice or one of Gene’s many designs, he will help students find dramatic, luscious colors that will make their rug POP!

Shepherd-R2Proddy --- Another reason for the POP in Gene’s rugs is due to the inclusion of very detailed, realistic prodded motifs and 3-D embellishments, to create a combined hooked and prodded mat. Gene has worked hard to develop shaped prodding methods to create realistic-looking flowers and motifs, and he will share his insight with you. He has also studied the history and techniques of traditional proddy, and enjoys teaching students how to make mats worked from the backside and entirely with unshaped strips. Proddy tools and materials will be covered along with tips on finishing proddy mats or adding proddy borders to hooked mats.
