DESCRIPTION:

Students will be testing out the full suite of Oxford Punch Needles and Craftsman’s Punch Needle on a variety of wool yarn, fabric, and a rich array of fibers, over the course of this Retreat. Students will also learn varied techniques such as: shading, sculpting & carving, bead stitch, reverse punch-satin stitch, couching, and appliqué - all whilst creating a Sampler.

Three different geometric patterns on Monks Cloth are available for students to choose from. When Ti contacts students, they will be able to select their project and size. Alternatively, students can schedule a Zoom meeting with Ti, well in advance, to discuss other pattern options. With your design decision resolved, you will have more punching time in class.

Seymour-2 In class, students will decide which techniques they would like to apply to their Sampler pillow or rug, then select from a variety of materials to use, like novelty yarn, faux fur, stretchy velvet, pre-felt, sari-silk, wool strips and wool yarn. Additional materials will be available to purchase from the teacher, and of course, you are welcome to bring your own fun fibers to use and share with the class.

(Please note: this is a punch needle/punch hooking (with yarn) Retreat, not to be confused with a rug hooking with a hook & wool or a needle punch with embroidery floss Retreat.)

LEVEL:
Intermediate - Students must have taken a beginner Oxford Punch Needle class before taking this Retreat and be proficient in using a Regular and Fine Oxford Punch Needle.

STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:
Gripper frame, scissors, Oxford Punch Needle/s (If you do not have Punch Needles, teacher will have a full range of Oxford & Craftsman’s for you to try & purchase). Needle & thread. Cutter & blades 3, 6-8. Feel free to bring your own fibers.

BIO:

Originally from the United Kingdom, world traveling rug maker, Ti Seymour, will take you on a journey of fabulous rich fabric and fibers. Ti has been enamored with rug making since 2012, whilst living in Montreal. She absorbed herself in every class available, joined a local, regional and International Guild, and was the President of Beaconsfield Hooking Craft Guild for 4 years.

In 2018, she became an accredited Oxford Punch Needle Instructor and OHCG Rug Hooking Teacher. She is currently enrolled in a College Diploma in Fiber Arts specializing in Rug Hooking.

Currently living in the Middle East, Ti has dived into the world of Islamic Geometrics. From taking classes in IG to drawing inspiration from architecture and cultural weaving in the region, Ti’s patterns give you a lot of scope to play with color and creativity, she can also adapt them to a student’s preferred size.

Ti’s classes are packed with information, creativity and best of all fun.
