Rug Hooking Week Retreats, taught by outstanding teachers from across the United States, are held in the ideal setting – Sauder Heritage Inn. During Rug Hooking Week, you will:

  • be inspired by the extensive exhibits,
  • expand your knowledge & skills in diverse classes,
  • shop for supplies & merchandise from unique vendors,
  • meet up with old friends and make new ones, and
  • simply relax & have fun in scenic northwest Ohio.

With all venues being located on the Sauder Village campus; it is a short walk from retreats to the historic village and its traditional craft shops, the rug exhibit and vendors in Founder’s Hall, the Barn Restaurant and the Doughbox Bakery. These are just a few reasons why so many rug hookers and fiber artists come back year after year, from around the globe, to participate in Rug Hooking Week!

  • Skill Level - A “minimum” of basic rug hooking (or relevant) skills and knowledge is required to register for all retreats, some require additional skills. If you have never hooked or don’t have basic skills, we suggest our Basic Rug Hooking for Beginners Workshop or any of the Workshops which don’t require prior experience. Note the “Level” in each class description.

  • Registration Confirmation… A confirmation email will be sent to you after receipt of your registration and class fees. Included in the email will be your the Booking ID and confirmation numbers that gives you priority in securing a room at the Sauder Heritage Inn. Please save this email for further reference.
  • Contact from Teachers - Retreat teachers “will” contact registered students by February 1st (and any students who register after that date) regarding retreat projects, planning, and details.
  • Supplies & Supply Fees In our Workshops, we list the workshop supply or kit fee and an itemized list of what it includes. Retreats are different. Since the retreat lasts 3 or 4 days, the projects tend to be widely varied in both size and supplies, so there is no “standard” retreat supply/kit fee. When the teacher contacts you, you will be able to select and discuss your project, as well as the supply fees.
  • Advanced Preparation – In some cases, a teacher may require you to do something in advance, prior to the start of the retreat. If advanced preparation is required, it with be listed in that retreat’s description, along with the action required. (For example, this could be hooking, taking photos, or other actions.) If you have questions, you may discuss it with the teacher when she contacts you. It is important to complete this advanced preparation, as it will directly affect your retreat experience.
  • Schedule – for a full schedule of retreats and all Rug Hooking Week activities. Will be available soon.
  • Cancellation Policy - Student retreat and workshop registrations are NOT TRANSFERABLE; ALL   cancellations and registrations must be administered by Sauder Village. Cancellations prior to June 30, 2022 will receive a refund of fees paid minus a 10% administrative fee. No refunds will be given after June 30, 2022. Canceling students are responsible for any/all project costs they incurred with their instructor. If classes do not meet a minimum number of students by July 31, 2022, Sauder Village may be forced to cancel the class and registration fees will be refunded.
