BIO:
In 1980, Anne was introduced to fiber art. As a cosmetologist, color was a natural interest to her along with various other forms of art. Ever since she can remember she has had the good fortune to be exposed to a variety of art mediums such as watercolor, oil painting, clay sculpturing, drawing, lead glass, pottery, and quilting. Anne also attended The Society of Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan for two years.
In 2001, Anne expanded her creativity into rug hooking and its elements. Dying and designing became her passion. Since then, Anne has created two dye books Ewenique Dye Book I & II and in her dye books she includes 110 dye formulas that she has created. Along with her Ewenique Dye Books she has hooked more than 200 rugs. Anne enjoys a variety of different cut sizes, color schemes, and rug patterns. Her rugs vary from orientals, pictorials, geometrics and primitives. Anne has designed more than 100 of her own patterns of which three were included in the Celebrations edition of Rug Hooking Magazine. Additionally, she wrote an article on how to hook large bed rugs for Rug Hooking Magazine. Her 18th Century style bed rug won the Sauder Award in 2010.
Since 2009, Anne has been teaching classes in her studio, as well as at various rug hooking camps, guilds, and groups. Her rugs have been sold at the Galleria in Shipshewana, Indiana and the Waterford Foundation Folk Art Show in Virginia.
From her salon to her kitchen stove with wool, coloring fiber has been Anne’s passion. As a teacher she has had the opportunity to expand her creativity and cherish her new friendships.
In 2011, Anne went into business with Nancy Stowers. While their Visions of Ewe studio is in Northville, Michigan, they also teach and vend throughout the country. In 2015, they started Great Lakes Rug Hooking Retreat in Geneva, Ohio.
