Description:
Explore and experiment as we create a beautiful landscape. This workshop will also encourage you to use up worms to create depth, develop an eye for nature’s highlights and shadows, and utilize different hooking methods to create effects.
We will cover how to hook a landscape using directional hooking, with mostly textured wool. Hooking specific elements of a landscape, such as water, pine trees, grass and skies, will be explored. The project is a standard framing size of 14” x 11”, and Janine will share her secret methods of finishing and hanging it on the wall.

She will also discuss her creative process of using photos from her trips when designing her rugs. The landscape style ends up being a combination of realism and impressionism, which tells a story.
Students will choose from 2 designs: Deer or Lighthouse, and use cut sizes # 7, 5 & 3, as well as whatever cuts you have in your worm pile. Bring worms in blue, green, purple, yellow, red, white, tan and brown – both for your project and to share. Additional wool information will be provided, when Janine contacts her students. A handout will be provided which will include a detailed description of the techniques covered in class, a great reference for future landscape projects.
Janine will share some of her beautiful photos and wonderful stories from her RV adventures – the inspiration for much of her hooked art. This workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn how to capture a special moment in WOOL!
