Bring your rugs to life with the power of color and dyes! Learn how to make color by mixing dyes and applying them to wool so that your rugs come to life in wonderous and unique ways.

April will show you how easy it is to dye beautiful wool using her tried-and-true applications. Over the course of the evening, she will teach a variety of dyeing techniques that alter color to achieve a fabulous range of color options. You will learn her easy techniques for transcolor dyeing (moving from one color to another), create light to dark gradations of a single color, mottle wool, as well as learn how to control the brightness of any color by dyeing tones or shades.

In this Dye Workshop, April will break down the mysteries of color as you learn step-by-step how to easily work with dyes. You will be working in the dye pots. As the wool simmers, you will create a personal dyeing diary complete with samples of dyed wools, charts, diagrams, and tips so that you will be confident to dye wool using these techniques at home.

As you learn these techniques, April also will demonstrate her newly released Dye Smart SystemTM which she designed to take the guesswork out of dyeing, but not the fun! April developed this system of color and dyeing after twelve years of color study and experimentation. Her system makes it possible for us to paint with wool as artists paint with palettes of watercolors or oils.
