Buffet Luncheon – A lunch option for Retreat & Workshop students, pre-registration required. 12 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., Heritage Inn, Atrium. Register here. Other options are Village Café & Barn Restaurant.
Demonstrations – If you are new to rug hooking, demonstrators will be available to show you techniques and answer questions. You will also have the opportunity to try it yourself. (Wed-Sat 10:00-5:00) Founder’s Hall – Exhibit Hall.
Gallery Talks – Learn more about Feature, Special, Celebration, Group or other exhibits from the artists, curators, or leading authorities. (Mornings and Evenings) Founder’s Hall – Exhibit Hall.
Hook-In + Pop-up Exhibit– Everyone welcome to join your fellow fiber friends, work on projects, socialize & network, participate or view the Pop-up Exhibit & just enjoy the evening! (Friday 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.) New location ----Heritage Inn – Atrium. (see Pop-Up Exhibit below.)
Meet the Author & Book Signing– Meet the authors of rug hooking & fiber art books & publications, dye books, etc., Founder’s Hall.*
Photo Time – For Celebration 32 / Feature / Special Exhibitors and Sauder Award / People’s Choice Award Winners, this is an opportunity for us to take your photo with your piece/rug. Meet us at the Rug Hooking Week Information Table in Founder’s Hall at 4:30 p.m. (You only need to attend one photo session.)
Pop-up Exhibit - EVERYONE IS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE POP-UP EXHIBIT, held in conjunction with the Hook-In (Friday, Aug 19, 6:30p.m.–10:00p.m.) in the Heritage Inn-Atrium. Techniques include: rug hooking, rug punching, needle punching, wool applique, felting, braiding, standing wool, tufting & fusion-combining two or more of these techniques. Topics: Any topic or current events (like: Ukraine) & any work not exhibited in the Main Exhibit. (Please DO NOT REGISTER your Pop-Up Exhibit pieces/rugs online --- blank Exhibit Cards will be available that night. Fill out the Exhibit Cards to share info on your piece/rug.)
Private Preview + Speakeasy Reception – Private Preview is an opportunity to see the exhibit & shop the vendors before it opens to the public, (Tue 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) in Founder’s Hall. This year’s Speakeasy Reception is both a kick-off to Rug Hooking Week and a chance to meet the new editor of Rug Hooking Magazine, Mark Allison, & wish Deb Smith - Happy Retirement! The Broken Barrel Speakeasy is located on Sauder Village’s 1920s Main Street, a shuttle will be available. The reception will include a cake, cash bar and appetizers available for purchase. This event is ONLY for: students, vendors & teachers, as well as the Feature/Special/Celebrations exhibitors.
Retreat Reception & Meal – A buffet meal at the Barn Restaurant is included with the paid registration of Retreat students. (Monday 5:30pm – 7:00pm) Retreat teachers are also asked to attend. A short welcome will be followed by the introduction of retreat teachers. Retreat information will be provided & questions answered.
Show & Tell – Everyone welcome to attend & see the projects that Retreat & Workshop students have been working on in class. (Thursday 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) Heritage Inn – Atrium.
Social Reception - A casual gathering for teachers, vendors, Feature & Special Exhibitors to meet & enjoy refreshments. Thursday – 7 p.m. Heritage Inn – Atrium.
