Description:

Rug-Hooking-Home-Faith-Family-Friends-Strebel-AAs rug hookers we often dabble in other artistic mediums. In our studios we usually have an abundance of attempted projects, some successful, some unfinished, and others passed down from family and friends.

Ali is looking for some adventurous spirits that would be interested in creating a one-of-a-kind piece that represents “YOU”. Combining various techniques and materials to tell a story. Ali will be acting as your guide - to help you pull things together. She will share fiber art techniques, which she has used in her own work, including: rug hooking, fabric manipulation, felting, embroidery, and weaving. Since this is an individualized project, you can select which of these techniques you would like to use in this project, then tuck the rest in your fiber art tool box for future use.

Ali will provide a piece of hand dyed linen to use as a base to build your fiber art on. She is known for her large assortment of fibers, so there will be an assortment of materials for you to choose from, such as: yarns, ribbons, buttons, old lace and fabric pieces. But she hopes you’ll look around your studio for supplies to add a personal touch to your piece too. Perhaps you have an unfinished project that you would like to incorporate, or a fiber treasure - once you have registered for the class a much more detailed email will help you pull your materials together.

The photos are samples of Ali’s work, and meant for inspiration. As mentioned, each student will create a one-of-a-kind project, so the photos should give you an idea of what you may create, but the possibilities are limitless!
