Rug Hooking Week (RHW) Retreats, taught by outstanding teachers from across the country & around the globe, are held in the beautiful Sauder Heritage Inn, the ideal setting for these multi-day classes.

Retreat Package:

4 Days: $400.00 per student – U.S. Teacher ($380.00 for Sauder Village members), payable with your registration. Tuesday – Friday, August 13 – 16, 2024

4 Days: $450.00 per student – International/Canadian/Long Distance U.S. Teacher ($430.00 for Sauder Village members), payable with your registration. Tuesday – Friday, August 13 – 16, 2024

3 Days: $325.00 per student – U.S. Teacher ($305.00 for Sauder Village members), payable with your registration. Tuesday – Thursday, August 13 – 15, 2024

3 Days: $375.00 per student – International/Canadian/Long Distance U.S. Teacher ($355.00 for Sauder Village members), payable with your registration.  Tuesday – Thursday, August 13 – 15, 2024

• Multiple Days of Study with a selected teacher. 
• Retreat Reception & Meal where you can meet teachers and enjoy a meal at the Barn Restaurant on Monday evening.
• Private Preview Night is a chance to view the exhibit & shop the vendors on Tuesday night before we open to the public on Wednesday.
• Door Prizes
• Show & Tell  where you can share your retreat project with the public on Thursday afternoon.
• Hook-In & Pop-Up Events on Friday night from 6 - 10 pm in the Heritage Inn Atrium.
• Complimentary Admission into the exhibit, vendors, and historic Sauder Village. One day complimentary admission is for each pre-registered (full) class day, which can be used on the day(s) of your choice. Note: If you have a registered piece in the exhibit, additional admission passes will not be issued. 

• Stay on-site! You are responsible for making your own lodging reservations at the Sauder Heritage Inn or Campground, using a Group Reservation ID # (formerly Booking ID #) and Confirmation #, included in your retreat confirmation email, giving you priority to make a reservation from a block of rooms and campsites held for confirmed students, available on a first-come basis. • Lunch Buffet… pre-register and join other students and instructors under the Great Oak Tree in the Heritage Inn Atrium.

• Exhibit Your Work... pre-register and submit your work in the main exhibit to receive one complimentary admissions pass valid Wednesday – Saturday. The pass allows you admission to the exhibit, vendors and historic Sauder Village. Pick-up your admission pass when you check-in your rugs or at Founder’s Hall Admission Desk. Please note: If you are registered as a Retreat Student, and registered a piece in the exhibit, only one complimentary pass will be issued. 

• Skill Level - A minimum of basic rug hooking (or relevant) skills and knowledge is required to register for all retreats, some require additional skills. If you have never hooked or don’t have basic skills, we suggest our "Basic Rug Hooking for Beginners" workshop or any of the workshops which don’t require prior experience. Note the “Level” in each class description.

• Registration Confirmation… An auto-generated email will be sent from rughooking@saudervillage.org to you after receipt of your class registration and payment. If you receive this payment receipt email, you are enrolled in the class. A second email will be sent from Deb Ridgway within 2 business days and includes your Group Reservation ID # (formerly called Booking ID) and Confirmation numbers to secure a reservation at the Sauder Heritage Inn or Campground space. You will need both the ID's to be placed on the wait list for the Inn. Please save both emails for future reference.
• Contact from Teachers - Retreat teachers will contact registered students by March 1^st (and any students who register after that date) regarding retreat projects, planning, and details.
• Supplies & Supply Fees Since the retreat lasts 3 or 4 days, the projects tend to be widely varied in both size and supplies, so there is no standard retreat supply/kit fee. When the teacher contacts you, you will be able to select and discuss your project, as well as the supply fees. All supply fees are payable directly to the teacher. 
• Advanced Preparation – In some cases, a teacher may require you to do something prior to the start of the retreat. If advanced preparation is required, it with be listed in the retreat description. This could be hooking, taking photos, or other actions. If you have questions, you may discuss it with the teacher. It is important to complete this advanced preparation as it will directly affect your retreat experience.
• Cancellation Policy - 
  • Student retreat, workshop, gallery talk, lunch reservations and hotel reservations are NOT TRANSFERABLE. 
  • All registration cancellations must be processed by Sauder Village.
  • You must contact Deb Ridgway, Adult Education Manager, Sauder Village, of any cancellations.
  • Cancellations prior to June 28, 2024 will receive a refund of fees paid minus a 10% administrative fee.
  • No refunds are given after June 28, 2024.
  • If classes do not meet a minimum number of students by July 23, 2024, Sauder Village may be forced to cancel the class and all fees will be refunded.
