Bio:
Carol DeCoteau has been hooking for 28 years. She was taught by Ann Eastwood in Sebring, Florida and instantly fell in love with the new fiber art she had found. Having originally come from Vermont, the warm and fluffy woolens of rug hooking, and the countless little loops appealed to her greatly.
In her 28 years of hooking, she has easily hooked over 800 rugs, both big and small. Carol is the Mom half of the mother/daughter team of The Old Tattered Flag and dyes the wool, color plans the rug patterns and hooks them for display in their shop and on their website.
Carol’s style leans toward traditional while Julie, who designs the patterns, prefers a more primitive style, but somehow, they merge on the color choices and subject matter for their designs. Carols use of color and placement of just the right mottle or texture in a certain spot help Julie’s designs stay primitive while helping to achieve a traditional feel as well.
