Students Need to Bring:
Scissors, paper and writing utensil of choice.
You are encouraged to bring their own hooking frame, hook, etc. if you have those items but you do NOT need to purchase any of those items for the class. You may borrow frames to use during the class from a selection on loan from vendors and Sauder Village.
Bio:
Rebecca started her rug hooking career in the 1970s while living in England with her Air Force family. Working via the mail service (no email or Zoom classes then!), she took ongoing “correspondence lessons” with LaNue Kelley, a McGown certified teacher who lived near her home town in the States. In the years since then she has studied with a variety of teachers including both fine and primitive experts. These teachers include such well known names as Joyce Krueger, Donna Hrkman, Cindi Gay, Kris Miller, Nola Heidbreder, Judy Carter, Pris Buttler, Sybil Osicka, Diane Stoffel, Susan Clarke, and Kim Hirt among others.
Rebecca’s first project was in a #2 cut but she quickly moved into experimenting with other sizes. She has done projects in cuts 3-8 but today prefers to work in the range of #4 to #6.
Rebecca has been involved with Sauder Rug Week since its very beginning. She started as a demonstrator in the days when they dressed in period clothing and sat out in the Historic Village. Later she joined the Sauder Rug Hooking Week Team as volunteer coordinator and today works with the registration and take in of rugs, exhibit set up and take down and is the contact person during the week in Founder’s Hall.
When not working on her projects, Rebecca volunteers at Sauder Village in the Collections Department working with the Curator of Collections. She especially loves working with the historic objects and helping create the exhibits that tell the story of Northwest Ohio and the Great Black Swamp.
