Hooking

Description:

Have you seen beautiful rugs hooked in a monochromatic color scheme and wished you could create one? Or perhaps you’ve given monochromatics a try and just weren’t satisfied with the results. Well, this workshop will show you how and give you the tools you need.

Donna has specially selected an Elephant for your project and will teach you how to hook it monochromatic. The thick, wrinkled skinned Pachyderm with its multitude of shades is the perfect subject for our workshop. Donna is known for her hand-drawn and shaded patterns – which are such a great guide. She will have an elephant photo to use as an example for your color value choices – and show you how to use a photo as a tool for future monochromatic style projects. The beautiful wool for this project will be hand-dyed by Donna – in a range of values in a single color. Students will be hooking in cuts # 3 – 5.

You will learn how to determine when and how to use each color value to create the Elephant’s face, eyes, trunk and body, all key elements. While it might sound simple to hook with one color in a handful of shades, it isn’t. Donna will address the challenging aspects in which to establish details, using just value. Donna will take away your fears - you can do it!

Donna has mastered monochromatic fiber art, with a long list of award-winning work, especially in this specific topic. She will share her knowledge, tips and tricks to help you build your confidence, skills and give you a rock-solid monochromatic foundation.

Once finished, your 12” x 15” elephant design, it would make a great pillow.
