Description:
This is a punch needle workshop using DMC embroidery floss. The focus will be on exploring the use of highlights and shadows while discovering the importance of negative space and atmosphere. Students will also learn to build contrast with color and texture that will support the main subject.
Michelle will demonstrate techniques using the Ultra Punch tool. The tool has 3 interchangeable needle sizes and ease for setting loop length. You can use the medium needle for 6 strands of DMC floss or the small needle for 3 strands of DMC floss, in this workshop.
The more comfortable you are with your tool and floss - the easier it is to experiment with fine lines and small details. Once comfortable, you can accomplish anything! For the workshop project, students will select one of the more than 145 colorful and wonderful patterns Michelle has designed. (See Supply Description below.)
Please note: this is a punch needle with embroidery floss workshop, not to be confused with a rug hooking with a hook & wool, or a punch needle/punch hooking with yarn.
Come join Michelle and learn how to use your punch needle like a paint brush, to create a “Painterly Style” to your punch needle work!
