Description:  In this workshop, Gene will help students to critically asses their chosen pattern and formulate the best plan for that particular geometric design. He will also share tips and techniques for mastering the many straight and wavy lines, corners, points, circles and other shapes commonly found in rugs with geometric designs or borders.

Shepherd-W2Students can work on any size geometric pattern they like or select one of Gene’s many geometric designs.  Students ordering large patterns from Gene, like Miss Weigle, just need to make sure they order it early in the pre-class discussion process. All students must bring a blank pattern to the class, one that has “no” hooking started on it. While the class will begin with design assessment, students will spend most of their day hooking as many of the repetitive motifs in their respective projects as possible. Gene recommends keeping cuts for this class to # 6 - 8.5, but will consult with each student to insure they find the best cut for their particular project. Gene will discuss wool options and color planning with each student in the months before class.

The material covered in this workshop is the key to successful and stunning geometric rugs, whether they be large or small.

Shepherd-W3Teacher will contact students prior to class:  Yes

Level: Intermediate - students should have good rug hooking knowledge & experience.
