Description:
There are many avenues to share our work with people in-person and the vast network of “friends” in cyberspace. Audiences receive our stories differently. Learn how to be a journalist for future researchers and build enthusiasm today in fiber arts with personal stories.

Through an interactive exercise, begin to develop a writing/speaking style with the storyline: “Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village is …” (why visit, what's important, where is it in relation to home, who are you, and why did you attend).  What words and images can tell this story - on a personal blog post, website’s gallery page, live stream video, podcast episode, Facebook groups and pages, Instagram, etc.?

Susan will talk about creating blog posts, websites, videos, podcasts, and using social media. She will discuss the equipment needed, suggestions for launching blogs or getting on social media and provide links to successful communicators. The three hours end with participants sharing their current methods of communicating and goals.

This is a wonderful opportunity to not only learn how to use the internet and social media for yourself and your own work, but also share these new skills, tools and resources with your groups and guilds back home.

Susan-Feller-teachingBio: Susan L. Feller has included rug hooking in her toolbox of textile techniques since 1994. The internet opened our craft/art globally both commercially and through organizations. The challenges of communicating visual work on websites and social media fills some of her studio time in West Virginia.

Serving on the Editorial Board for Rug Hooking Magazine, past boards of ATHA and TIGHR, as curator and judge of international exhibits, networking is inherent in Susan’s approach to the contemporary art world.
