Pine Needles and Pineapple in wool by Annuzuato, Burke and GonzalesDescription:
Create a beautiful and unique wreath made from grapevine and wool.

This workshop has two parts. In the morning, you will learn to fringe a wonderful array of green wool strips and twirl them to make branches, next - cluster the branches, and finally, attach the cluster of wooly branches to the 10” grapevine wreath. This branch technique is the very same technique that Mary and Jackie are well-known for in their Wooly Pine Trees, lavender sprigs, flowers, and Willow Trees.

In the afternoon, Susan will teach you how to make a wonderful 8” pineapple, which is created with wool, a needle, and thread. You will learn the method for using a mold to create this dimensional design and then make the (shapeable) pineapple leaves. The final step will be to attach the pineapple to your wreath, and add a few finishing touches to shape and add a bow.

A wonderful wreath to display and enjoy for all seasons and many years to come!

Bio: Mary Annunziato and Jackie Burke:  For the past five years Mary and Jackie have partnered as "Wooly Pines" creating and teaching their own beautiful design of the wool tree. Naturally they have "branched out" to new and exclusively designed lavender, willows, wreaths, and flowers. Their teaching has taken them to many states to teach at basket guilds and quilt, fiber and wool shops. Jackie, a retiree from the Department of Defense after 37 years' service, has over 30 years of experience in decorative painting and continues to enjoy making rag quilts, wool projects and

gourd art. Mary, mother of three, also has over 30 years’ experience in painting and enjoys hand sewing and basket making.

Susan Gonzales:  Susan has loved sewing and working with wool for over 20 years. Creating her wonderful designs for rug hooking, wool applique, and punch needle, which comes naturally, as she is the daughter of her talented mother, Dorothy, 94 years of age, who continues to paint every day. Now Susan's daughter, Jody, has joined her in creating beautiful wool flowers and all things "wool". Together they teach and vend at textile art events.
