Rick Jensen, internationally known woodcarver and instructor, will return to Sauder Village as the special guest artist for the 2017 Sauder Village Woodcarver’s Show and Sale. Rick was recognized by “Woodcarving Illustrated” magazine as the 2014 Woodcarver of the Year. He is widely recognized by his peers for developing a new and unique style of carving whimsical cottonwood bark houses.
Rick’s influence in the world of whimsical cottonwood bark carving can be recognized in numerous woodcarving publications and at shows throughout North America. His teaching process is a recipe for success in his classes, which are sprinkled with a bit of humor and a chance to learn and practice Rick’s inventive techniques while creating a one of a kind whimsical bark piece. Above all, Rick will leave you inspired to continue creating whimsical cottonwood bark houses for years to come!
Rick is the co-author, with Jack A. Williams, of the highly successful book, “Illustrated Guide to Carving Tree Bark”. Rick’s work was also included in the book, “Carving Found Wood” by Jack A. Williams and Vic Hood. In addition, Rick has written numerous woodcarving articles for “Woodcarving Illustrated” and his work was also featured in “Woodcarving Illustrated’s” book, “Handcarved Christmas.”
Rick is a sought after woodcarving instructor and has taught at numerous carving venues throughout the U.S. and Canada over the past 25 years. He is excited to have the opportunity for a return visit to Sauder Village to share his distinctive style of whimsical cottonwood bark carving at the 2017 Woodcarver’s Show and Sale.
