Description
Students will use flexible copper pipe as a frame for their orb then stretch and stitch foundation cloth around the piping. A wide variety of techniques will be taught over the three-day class and students may choose which to incorporate in their piece. Techniques include wet felting, needle felting, quillies, standing wool, embroidery, beading, reverse punching, sculpting, and rug hooking with many different fibers. The piece will evolve organically from the center out. Students will also learn how to finish and hang their pieces.

Skill level: All skill levels welcome
Supply fee: There is no set fee, however students may purchase the piping from the teacher or buy their own.
Student supplies: Foundation cloth, rug hook, scissors, mix of fibers in student’s choice of color scheme.
Bio
Yvonne Iten-Scott:

Yvonne is a Canadian fiber artist and educator known for her innovative work in textile arts. She serves as a faculty member at Fleming College, where she shares her passion for fiber manipulation in both traditional and contemporary techniques. Yvonne has taught and exhibited her work in Canada, the United States, Australia and Japan and has won numerous awards. She recently completed two artists residencies, one at the Textile Museum in Iceland and another in the Shetland Islands.
