46th Annual Sauder Village Quilt Show

Wednesday – Saturday, May 3 - 6, 2023, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Celebrate the rich tradition of quilting at Sauder Village’s annual event! With hundreds of quilts on full-length display, this event showcases a traditional craft that has become a form of art worldwide. The kaleidoscope of color and creativity will inspire and astound you. The National Association of Certified Quilt Judges (NACQJ) juries this annual show. Ribbon winning categories range from pieced, applique, mixed media, and art/innovation.

Beautiful quilts will hang full length in this spectacular four-day Quilt Show in spacious Founder's Hall. Each year brings a brand new kaleidoscope of color, pattern, size and design.

Categories... All pieces are exhibited in one of twenty-three categories, including the 2023 Sauder Village Challenge "Not Quite Black & White". Everyone is welcome to participate! Follow this link for more information about the 2023 Quilt Challenge.
Submit your quilts for the Exhibit... You are encouraged to enter your beautiful masterpiece. Quilt Exhibit Entry Guidelines on how to submit your quilt are listed here. Once a quilt has been in the main exhibit it may not be re-entered into this popular show in future years. Entries are accepted in up to twenty-three categories. Join us for an exclusive after hours viewing of the annual Quilt Show.
 
A special opportunity for Sauder Village Members to view the 2023 award recipient quilts, special exhibits and main hall. Curators and experts will be on hand to provide detailed information about the Special Exhibits.
 
This event is FREE and exclusively for Sauder Village Members. 

Registration is not Required.

This year’s Quilt Show will display a Special Exhibit of patriotic themed quilts donated for local service members and veterans. A local guild or individual specifically made each quilt for the Quilts of Valor Special Exhibit.

Living Outside the Lines: The Work of Ann Stamm Merrell

Description: A locally born quilt artist, this exhibit pays tribute to her quilting legacy influenced by her heritage and artistic interpretations that pushed traditional quilting boundaries for the time period.  Ann’s quilt designs reflect three distinct periods: traditional, contemporary and Celtic Crosses,

Quilts of Valor

Curated by Deb Ridgway

Description: A Quilt of Valor is an award to service members and veterans who have been touched by war. It says, “thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” Quilts of Valor reflect the best possible workmanship and use of quality materials, consistent with the Quilts of Valor Foundation’s core value of promoting excellence.

Donna KooistraProfessional Quilt Appraisals

Donna L. Kooistra, AQS Certified Quilt & Textile Appraiser and President of the Professional Association of Appraisers of Quilted Textiles, brings her knowledge of a quilt's estimated value to the Sauder Village Quilt Show. 

Quilt appraisals will be done at the Sauder Village Quilt Show in Founder’s Hall by appointment or by walk-in Friday, May 5, from 10:00 – 4:00 p.m, and by appointment Saturday, May 6. Registration is preferred but not required and you will be contacted to set up an appointment time. Walk-ins will be seen as soon as possible. Check out the great shopping at our Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop. Be sure to allow plenty of time to find fabric, notions, patterns and tools for your quilting or sewing projects.

Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop offers a variety of fabrics, patterns, books, thread, tools, batting and more. The Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop is located within Historic Sauder Village and only a short walk from the show. Follow this link to more information about the Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop.

The shop will be following social distancing and safety protocols for a pleasant shopping experience.

    Quilt Show - Open to the Public from...
    Wednesday, May 3 – Saturday, May 6, 2023
    Wednesday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
    Registration is not required to attend the Quilt Show Exhibit.

  • Location:

    Founder's Hall at Sauder Village - Enter the Hall using the west side entrance or enter through the Historic Village Welcome Center and make your way west to Founder's Hall east side entrance. 

  • Admission:With paid Historic Village admission, guests will have the opportunity to participate in quilting related activities within the historic homes & shops and visit the historic craft shops of baskets, brooms, weaving, spinning and coopering as well the newest addition, the 1920s Main Street.  Come for a day of inspiration at the Quilt Show &  Historic Sauder Village.

    Single Day Ticket into the Quilt Show ONLY: Adults - $15.00, Students (4-16) - $12.00
    Single Day Historic Village: Adults $24.00 Students 4 – 16 $18.00
    Two Day Ticket into the Quilt Show and Historic Village: Adults - $38.00, Students (4-16) - $26.00

Quilt Exhibition inquiries and registration can be done online through the website and are processed in the order that they are received.

Your membership also offers you discounts in select venues across Sauder Village like Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop, the Gift Shop, the General Store, the Barn Restaurant, the Doughbox Bakery, Sauder Heritage Inn and Campground and are given a full year of general admission to Historic Sauder Village and discounts for Member events! You can also feel good knowing that your supporting membership helps provide wonderful family experiences and educational opportunities for all ages throughout the year and helps to preserve the past for many generations to come.
