You can Make an Important Difference…
In 1976, Erie J. Sauder passionately built a living history village to serve as a constant reminder of the pioneering, entrepreneurial spirit of Ohio’s ancestors… so that we never forget the hard work that it took to get us to where we are today. He was committed to creating an experience to honor the history and values that shaped our country. More importantly, Erie wanted to inspire his guests, especially students, to leave their own mark on the world.
As generations move beyond the memory, the stories and activities of the past could be lost forever if not preserved for future generations. Erie was determined that people, especially children, would not forget the hard work and innovation it took to get us where we are today. He would often share; "you can put all this history in books and it will never talk like the tangible history will. That’s why we have this living history village."
Today, Sauder Village is more than one man’s vision. It is a thriving reality as Ohio’s largest living history destination. The authentic experiences fulfilling the mission are possible because of your partnership in supporting this incredible, permanent educational resource.
Our latest addition in the Walk through Time experience is a 1920s Main Street. As we finalize the 1920s Main Street project, we are reminded, of a statement that Erie made, "it is amazing what you can do, when you don’t know it can’t be done". Join us in helping complete this exciting expansion underway to replicate a 1920s Main Street Community. Both financial and in-kind/curatorial donations will help to authentically complete this authentic addition to the Walk Through Time experience at Sauder Village.
