FAQs

I want to be considered as a future vendor, teacher, or exhibitor. Who do I contact?

Thank you for your interest in Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village. Please email your business information, portfolio, and/or class proposal to [email protected].

Are other fiber arts included in Rug Hooking Week?

Rug hooking remains the main focus of our event. Occasionally, we recruit a select number of exhibitors/teachers that work with braiding, 3-dimensional techniques, felting, fusion, punch needle, standing wool/quilling, and wool applique.

Who runs Rug Hooking Week?

Rug Hooking Week is one of Sauder Village’s three major artisan events. It is completely staffed, planned, and coordinated by Sauder Village staff and volunteers. We also host an annual Quilt Show and Woodcarver’s Show.

Does Sauder Village own Rug Hooking Magazine?

No. Rug Hooking Magazine is owned by Ampry Publishing.

How do I cancel my class registration?

To cancel your class registration, contact us at [email protected] or call us at 419.446.2541 and ask for the RHW class registration manager.

What is the wait list?

We give you the opportunity to sign up for a wait list for any of our classes, workshops and gallery talks. Because we receive cancellations throughout the year, often students on a wait list are able to get in to the class they want. We will contact you when an opening happens and get you registered!

How many rugs are on display?

The count varies, but we typically display over 400 rugs each year.

Can I exhibit my work? Is there a jury process?

Everyone is invited to pre-register their work in the Main Exhibit. Visit the Rug Registration tab to learn more. Entries are not juried. We do not accept walk-in registrations.

Are there awards?

Yes. Sauder Village solicits nominations from show attendees for the annual People’s Choice Awards in different categories. Award winners receive a rosette ribbon. One special piece will receive the Sauder Award—a piece that exemplifies the spirit of Sauder Village. This piece is hand-selected by the current President/CEO.

I can’t drop off my exhibit pieces. What do I do?

We accept pre-registered, shipped rugs. Follow the shipping instructions on our website. Alternatively, contact your local guild and see if there is anyone attending RHW that would be willing to transport your piece.

Do I have to pay an admission fee if I just want to shop the vendors?

Yes. We do not offer a shopper’s pass. Your admission fee supports our ability to bring you nationally acclaimed exhibits and vendors each year.

How many vendors are there, and what do they sell?

Each year, we have 15 vendors from across the United States. They offer a wide selection of wool, fibers, hooking tools, supplies, patterns, project bags, and more. Have a vendor suggestion? Contact us at [email protected].

Where can I stay?

Sauder Village offers lodging options at the Heritage Inn and Campground. Browse our website to learn more.

What do I do if the Heritage Inn is fully booked?

There are many hotel options nearby. Stay in Wauseon, Napoleon, Defiance, Bryan, or Holiday City, and enjoy a gorgeous country sunrise on your way to the Sauder Village grounds each morning! Our area has had many outstanding AirBnB and VRBO options crop up in recent years. Stay with a local host and learn more about our unique corner of Ohio.

Who do I contact to cancel my reservation at the Heritage Inn?

Contact the Heritage Inn directly at 419.445.6408 to cancel your room or campsite.
