Denim Jacket Embellishment

Description
Students will learn how to insert a piece of foundation cloth to the back panel of a denim jacket. They will then transfer their pattern of choice to the foundation cloth and begin hooking or needle punching. The instructor will demonstrate how to incorporate rug hooking, needle punch, standing wool, quillies and other forms of embellishment into the pattern. She will also cover the numerous ways of finishing the inside of a jacket.

Student supplies: Denim jacket, piece of linen or monk’s cloth about 2” larger than the back panel of the jacket, rug hook or punch needle, frame or hoop, scissors, Sharpie marker, fibers for hooking/punching.
Bio
Yvonne Iten-Scott:

Yvonne is a Canadian fiber artist and educator known for her innovative work in textile arts. She serves as a faculty member at Fleming College, where she shares her passion for fiber manipulation in both traditional and contemporary techniques. Yvonne has taught and exhibited her work in Canada, the United States, Australia and Japan and has won numerous awards. She recently completed two artists residencies, one at the Textile Museum in Iceland and another in the Shetland Islands.
