Description
Learn how to create dimensional effects hooking with mixed cut sizes, wool types (dyed and plaid) and, when the opportunity presents, the magic of creative hooking techniques and subtle embellishments!
In this open class Pamelyn will work with students to explore creative opportunities based on pattern selection. She will demonstrate techniques used in her designs and adding unique personal touches to purchased patterns.
Her classroom style is relaxed yet energizing, fun yet focused. Traditional techniques with a flare, Pamelyn just loves mixing it up!

Skill level: Intermediate – Advanced hooking experience and comfort working with a variety of cuts dependent on pattern selection. Adventurous disposition welcome!
Supply fee: Fee varies based on student choices. Pamelyn will work with each student prior to class to discuss pattern choice, color plan, and vision for project. Students may opt to have color planning and wool preparation for all or part of their project. Students are responsible for providing their own pattern or may choose to hook one of Pamelyn’s available designs.
Dyed and plaid wool along with other sundries will be available for purchase in class. Students are encouraged to bring wool as well.
Student supplies: Basic hooking tools including frame hooks, and cutter with blades appropriate for the student’s project. Scissors – suggest a pair with sharp pointed tip for certain demonstrated techniques. Three (3) Sharpie markers, one black and two additional colors. Pen/pencil for note taking. Students will receive a personalized folder for their project. A phone camera is helpful but not necessary.
Bio
Pamelyn Thacker:

Pamelyn has a lifelong devotion to creative fiber arts. Her grandmother taught her to quilt completing her first doll quilt before starting kindergarten. She discovered rug hooking at the Indiana State Fair in 2001 with Bev Stewart, her first teacher. Now a Certified McGown Instructor and recently retired, Pamelyn resides in Pickerington Ohio. Since 2007 she has served her local guild holding several positions and is currently president of The Buckeye Rug Hooking Guild. She actively teaches throughout the Mid-West and is a Region 6 member of ATHA and TIGHR. Pamelyn provides hooking instructions in her studio, loves to dye various wool fibers and recently began sharing
