Integrating Mixed Media Into Your Rug Hooking

Susan Feller
Description
Students will meet one-on-one via Zoom with instructor prior to class to draw a design using digital tools. The instructor will work with each student individually to produce their original designs onto fabric. In the classroom, students will receive their fat quarter (approximately 18” x 22”) printed fabric designs along with hands-on instruction to create 3-D motifs (hooked or otherwise) along with construction, assembly, color planning, and problem solving for their project. Students will learn a variety of digital design software and how to integrate current technology into a customized and personalized mixed media rug. Along with rug hooking, students may choose to include applique, embroidery, proddy, couching, and other forms of embellishment in their 3-D design motif. This class will inspire outside the box creativity!
