Native American Crafts

From cattail mats and bowls made from gourds, costumed guides at Natives & Newcomers can often be found creating many hand-made items that were traditionally used by Native Americans. Watch as cordage is made using the bark from a basswood tree or a bowl or dipper is made from a gourd grown in our gardens. Other common activities include making cattail mats, cattail ducks (a fun toy!) and perhaps even making a pair of moccasins!
