Village Trades and Craftspeople

The Historic Village is filled with trades and craftspeople highly skilled in traditional arts, from basket weaving, broommaking, coopering, and tinsmithing to spinning, weaving, printing, and woodworking. Guests are encouraged to visit their shops, watch them work, and learn about their handiwork firsthand. Don’t forget to stop by the Museum Store to purchase a village-made gift to take home!

Rides

Erie Express Train

Enjoy scenic views around the perimeter of the Historic Village on this fun, open-air ride. A miniature replica of the 1863 C.P. Huntington train, the Erie Express represents an icon of American history. With five cars, including one that is wheelchair accessible, it’s perfect for guests of all ages — a convenient way to experience our walk through time.

Board the Erie Express at the Elmira Depot on 1920s Main Street. Best of all, the train ride is included with your admission to Sauder Village.

Horse-Drawn Trolley Rides

This classic mode of transportation lets you experience Sauder Village the way guests might have over a century ago. It’s a leisurely and memorable way to tour the Historic Village. Please note trolley rides are an additional cost.
