Description
Design your own unique fraktur/folk art rug hooking pattern. Commemorate a birth, wedding, anniversary, or just have fun creating a whimsical, playful rug that will make you smile. Don’t think you can draw? No problem! We will be using templates for unlimited possibilities! Class discussion includes historical information, copyright laws, basics of design and layout, transferring your design to backing, color planning tips and lots of hands-on help! Students will be working with a 24” x 36” piece of paper to draw out their designs. Some students may choose to create a smaller design size.

Skill level: Intermediate
Supply fee: $60 payable to the instructor at the beginning of class. Fee includes Design in a Box with templates, Sharpie marker, newsprint, tracing paper, handout with color references, and bonus templates.
Student supplies: Sharpened pencil, eraser, scissors for cutting paper, ruler and/or straightedge, scotch tape. Optional: up to one yard of foundation cloth such as linen.
Bio
Kris Miller:

Kris Miller is a self-taught rug hooker who has been designing patterns for over 25 years. Her business, Spruce Ridge Studios, specializes in original folk art and primitive designs. Over her career, Kris has written three books and won numerous awards and ribbons for her hooked rugs. She has also taught at many workshops and camps across the United States, England, and Finland. She lives on a small hobby farm with her husband in Howell, Michigan.
